LakeHeviz– the world’s largest natural biologically active thermal lake. It is located among the gentle hills of the southwestern part of the Transdanubian intermountain. The miraculous healing properties of local water were discovered by the Romans. Medicinal water and healing silt, originating from the ancient Pannonian Sea, in combination with physiotherapy procedures, contribute to the treatment of almost all diseases of the musculoskeletal system and rheumatic diseases. The town owes its fame solely to the uniqueness of the lake, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The name itself contains the prehistory of the origin of the lake: Heviz “a reservoir fed by a hot spring.” Located in the center of a cruciform fault, the warm-water healing lake with a peat bottom with an area of 47,500 square meters is the largest in the world; water enters it from thermal springs. They are located in a crater at a depth of 38 m. The water temperature ranges from 33-35 degrees C, even in winter it does not fall below 23 degrees C, so you can swim here all year round under the open sky. Every minute, the source throws out 20,000 liters of water, as a result of which a complete change in the lake occurs every 72 hours. Thanks to the unique natural springs of thermal waters, Lake Heviz is famous for its spa hotels, balneotherapy, and thermal spas.
Heviz mud
The mud covering the bottom of the lake also has special healing properties, which, from the point of view of balneology, is something between purely mineral mud and organic fango. In dry form, the mud substance contains 20% organic elements, due to which it has higher thermal properties. The most important components of the Heviz mud are the products of incomplete decay of plants, which are formed under conditions of excessive moisture and difficult aeration. They contain biologically active components: enzymes, hormone-like substances, biogenic stimulants, microelements. The mineral composition is determined by the significant content of calcium and magnesium carbonates, sulfates and radon (insignificant amount). The mud mixed with the water of the thermal spring is used for applications.

LAKE BALATON
One of the main attractions of Hungary is the resort region of Lake Balaton. The shores of this shallow lake are annually filled with countless vacationers who come here hoping to enjoy sunbathing and the gentle waves of the lake, find peace in contemplation of the beauty of the surrounding landscape, and also improve their health at the famous resorts of the lake. The lake, rich in fish, literally attracts numerous fishing enthusiasts. Every village has tennis courts and golf courses. Horse riding enthusiasts have a great opportunity to satisfy their passion for this sport in Tihany, Santod, Keszthely or Nagyvazoni, in many places around Lake Balaton, riding schools open one after another.
On the hills along the northern shore of Balaton, a number of fortresses, castles and resort towns grew in the 16th century.
The world-famous stone “women” of Badachononi are fantastic volcanic formations. In the Kali valley, located just behind the coastal holiday villages, the carbonic source of Kekkuti is knocked out of the ground, and the healing water of the famous local spring, named after the Byzantine princess Theodora, who was resting here, is considered the best in Hungary.
The Tihany peninsula, dividing Lake Balaton in half, is a place that attracts tourists from all over the world. The two-towered church, towering above the landscape, already from a distance attracts the attention of travelers to the peninsula, the territory of which is now declared a protected area. The church and the Benedictine monastery (founded in 1055) are the oldest buildings in the Balaton area. From the alley leading from the church, a breathtaking view of the lake and surroundings opens up. In the area of the village of Jorvenesh, you can see an old water mill with a museum (one of the oldest in Eastern Europe), and near the town of Balatonudvar there is a cemetery-reserve with heart-shaped gravestones carved in limestone. Tihany also has its own lakes, completely independent from Balaton. One of them is Belshyo-to (“Inner Lake”) with a radius of about 700 meters, in spring and summer it turns blue due to lavender plantations blooming throughout the area. Also, the constant attention of tourists is enjoyed by a unique stone cone created by ancient geysers, one of the most beautiful structures of the coast – the Golden House (“Aranhaz”), the Museum of the Benedictine Monastery, located in the cellars of the monastery, the Open Air Ethnographic Museum and the Puppet Museum are also of interest.
