Economy
Canada is one of the largest economic powers in the world, especially in the field of exports of raw materials. Agriculture and mining contribute to the important place that the country occupies in the world market. In agricultural terms, Canada is a major producer and exporter of wheat, barley, corn, potatoes, oats and soy. Forestry provides huge volumes of wood for export and for industrial transformation. The fish richness of Canadian waters also contributes to the development of fisheries. As for mining and energy resources, Canada has huge reserves of oil, natural gas, copper, nickel, lead, zinc, iron and gold. Industry and construction account for a quarter of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The main industrial products are transport equipment, food products and beverages, chemicals, wood products, electrical equipment, metal products, rubber and plastic products, clothing, textiles, furniture, tobacco and leather goods. Canada's main trading partners are the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom and Mexico.
