List of All Banks in South Dakota

South Dakota, one of the north-central prairie states of the United States, has an abundance of unspoiled nature, huge, fertile fields and historic pioneer cities. Sioux Falls, the region's largest city and home to the eponymous waterfall, is located near the eastern border with Minnesota. At the other end of South Dakota is Rapid City, the gateway to the Black Hills with its mountains, caves, forests and lakes.

The most famous landmark in South Dakota is the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in the southwest, which consists of four 18-meter-high, rock-hewn heads of former presidents of the United States (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln).

The world's largest rock sculpture, the Crazy Horse Memorial, is currently being built in the Black Hills and will be many times larger than Mount Rushmore. The horse's head alone is as big as all four of Mount Rushmore's presidents put together. When completed, this monumental sculpture in honor of Crazy Horse should be 171 m high and 195 m long.

  • According to acronymmonster, the nickname of South Dakota is Mount Rushmore State.

Vacation spots & excursions

South Dakota is pretty slow, there are no big cities. Sioux Falls with almost 90,000 residents is the largest city in the state. A visit to the Pettigrew Museum will familiarize you with the history and culture of the Dakota tribe that gave South and North Dakota their names. Sioux Falls and Rapid City are good starting points for exploring South Dakota and are easily accessible by plane. The biggest tourist attraction is the Mount Rushmore Memorial. The faces of four American presidents were carved out of the mountain in more than ten years of work. Nature lovers should visit the Black Hills National Forest, the BadlandsVisit National Park and the Wind Cave National Park. Buffalos in the wild can be seen in Custer State Park.
