Memphis

Memphis is the largest city in the state and an important commercial center. The city on the Mississippi owes its rise to cotton and its convenient location. In the past 20 years, the cityscape has changed a lot through new construction projects. Victorian Village, the small old town district, is located in the heart of the city center. The pretty houses give an impression of what it looked like in Memphis in the 19th century. The Fontaine House, the Magevney House (built in 1831, a picturesque house with original furniture) and the Mallory-Neely House can be visited. The lively nightlife takes place above all in Overton Square and in that sung in many blues songs Beale Street, which was renovated some time ago. The father of the blues lived here, WC Handy. A center of black culture and music emerged at the legendary birthplace of blues. The Indian village Chucalissa Indian Village (Mitchell Road), which had between 900 and 1500 more than 1000 residents, allows a look into the past. Trips on the Mississippi with short "shore excursions" on sandbars are popular.

Of course, country and western music determines the calendar of events. Nashville is nestled in a charming hilly landscape and offers numerous opportunities for excursions and recreation.
