By | January 30, 2023

The US state of Washington State, which borders Canada and the Pacific, offers visitors beautiful areas for outdoor active holidays. Washington State has the second highest population of all western states, but you can still get to a quiet, rural area in a few minutes from a city center.

The Snake and Columbia rivers make their way through the eastern part of Washington before they merge and flow through the Cascade Mountains. The cascades run from north to south and dominate the central part of the state. The highest mountain at 4,392 m is the imposing Mount Rainier.

But there are also plenty of great beaches and small resorts on the Pacific coast, and much of Washington State is coniferous. Popular leisure activities include sailing in Puget Sound, hiking along the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail and mountaineering in the Cascade Mountains and the Olympic Mountains.

  • According to acronymmonster, the nickname of Washington is The Evergreen State.

Washington State has two very different climates. West of the Cascades Mountains, temperatures are rarely higher than 26 ° C in summer and barely below 8 ° C in winter, and there are very warm summers and cold winters in the eastern part of the state.

Geography

Washington borders Canada and the Pacific. Although Washington is one of the most densely populated states in the western United States, you can get to any rural location in a few minutes from any city. The center of the country is crossed by the Cascade Range, the north-south running mountain range, the highest point of which is the 4392 m high Mount Rainier. The northern part of the mountain is a granite massif, the southern part is volcanic plateau, into which the Columbia River has cut deep. In the southeast of the country is the Columbia Plateau, a huge basin whose surface has been shaped by lava flows. Much of the state is covered by coniferous forest.
