Overview
All cities have hospitals and dentists. Visitors should bring their own medicines as some are difficult to obtain. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid for nationals of EU and EFTA countries. The treatment takes place upon presentation of the EHIC. This regulates care and reimbursement of costs in the event of illness for EU and EFTA citizens. Travel insurance should be taken out. An individual first-aid kit should be taken with you. Other risks
Hepatitis B occurs. Vaccination is recommended for long-term stays and special exposure. Extremely low temperatures in the winter months are a health risk.
Money
Currency
1 Danish krone = 100 Øre. Currency code: dkr, DKK (ISO code). Banknotes come in denominations of 1,000, 500, 200, 100 and 50 dkr. Coins in denominations of 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 DKR and 50 Øre.
Credit cards
Visa, Mastercard and Diners are the most accepted and widely used methods of payment in hotels, restaurants and shops. Details from the issuer of the relevant credit card.
ATMs
Bank cards Money can be withdrawn from ATMs with a credit card (Diners, Visa and Mastercard). The Girocard (formerly ec card) with the Cirrus, Plus or Maestro symbol is accepted worldwide. It can be used at ATMs with the Cirrus, Plus or Maestro symbol. To be on the safe side, travelers should always have an alternative source of money such as cash. Attention: Travelers who want to pay with their bank customer card abroad and withdraw money should find out from their bank about the possibility of using their card before starting their journey. There are ATMs in big cities like Ilulissat. Increasingly, payment with bank cards is accepted in shops and petrol stations. Some ATMs cannot be used on weekends.

Currency Exchange
Cash, travelers checks and checks from Danish banks can be exchanged. Postal checks can be cashed at all post offices. Greenlandic bank Grønlandsbanken has branches in Nuuk, Sisimiut, Oaqortoq, Ilulissat and Maniitsoq. The ferry company KNI/POST represents the bank in some towns and villages.
