List of Major Banks in Nebraska

By | January 30, 2023

Rising from the prairie plains of the Missouri River to the Great Plains and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Nebraska is still reminiscent of the explorers, pioneers and Indians of yore. The largest city, Omaha, is located on the west bank of the Missouri and is one of the state’s top tourist destinations.

The famous American youth welfare institution Girls and Boys Town ( girls and boys city) is located near Omaha. The priest Edward Flanagan founded it in 1921 as Boys Town, a home for homeless, needy boys. The exemplary facility still gives boys and girls a new, loving and safe home.

Lincoln is one of the most impressive capitals of all US states. The State Capitol building, also known as the “Tower on the Plains”, is just as impressive from the inside as it is from the outside. The top floor offers a great view of the city.

  • According to acronymmonster, the nickname of Nebraska is The Cornhusker State.

Vacation spots & excursions

The largest city, Omaha, is a busy holiday destination with diverse leisure options. A symphony orchestra, pop concerts in summer, a ballet company and some theaters provide entertainment. The Bellevue Church, built by Presbyterian missionaries in 1856, is the oldest church in Nebraska. Some interesting museums offer variety not only on rainy days. The Joslyn Art Museum has a fascinating Art Deco design and gives an overview of the development of art from antiquity to the present. The history of one of the great pioneering railroad companies can be traced at the Union Pacific Historical Museum. The Great Plains Black Museum is particularly interesting, which deals with the legacy of black people in Nebraska since the mid-19th century. A visit to the private Omaha Children’s Museum is also nice. A large shopping center with cinemas and other leisure facilities was built in the Old Market district. Just a few kilometers outside the city, the 520-hectare Fontenelle Forest offers excellent hiking opportunities on marked trails through wetlands and prairie landscapes past wonderful lakes. Nearby is Boys Town, the famous community for homeless boys that is managed by them themselves (visits are possible). The impressive State Capitol is located in Lincoln, the University of Nebraska Museum and the famous Sheldon Art Gallery.

In the western part of the state, endless plains dominate the landscape, from which two high mountains, Scotts Bluff and Chimney Rock (a mighty rock) rise suddenly and can be seen from afar.
