The largest city, Burlington, has many sports and leisure facilities and offers a wonderful view over Lake Champlain. A visit to the interesting Shelburne open-air museum is worthwhile, as it is only a few kilometers from Burlington. The neoclassical State Capitol is worth seeing in the capital Montpelier. Stowe, the famous ski area on the slopes of Mount Mansfield Heritage Park with its old New England style buildings and the Green Mountain National Forest with its historic trails and driving paths are also worth a visit.
