The educational system in Afghanistan is divided into three levels: primary school (grades 1-6), secondary school (grades 7-9) and higher education (grade 10+). Primary schools are free for all students up to grade 6; however, secondary schools require tuition fees for grades 7-9 unless students receive scholarships or government assistance programs. Higher education institutions include public universities as well as private universities that offer degree programs in engineering, medicine, law, business administration, economics and other fields. Additionally, there are vocational training centers that offer specialized courses such as carpentry or tailoring for those who cannot afford higher education.
