According to topschoolsintheusa.com, Singapore is a small Southeast Asian city-state located off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. It has a total area of 719.1 square kilometres and is divided into five administrative regions: Central Singapore, North East, South East, West and North West. The country is known for its lush greenery and vibrant culture. It is home to world-class attractions such as the iconic Singapore Flyer, Universal Studios Singapore and Marina Bay Sands Skypark. There are also numerous parks and nature reserves scattered across the island for visitors to explore. The educational system in Singapore follows a six-three-four structure with students attending primary school from ages six to twelve before progressing to secondary school from ages thirteen to fifteen. After completing secondary school students have the option of pursuing further education at either a junior college or polytechnic institute. The country also offers several international schools that provide education in English, as well as other foreign languages such as Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. In addition to traditional higher education institutions, Singapore also has several vocational training centers that offer courses such as hairdressing, hospitality management and automotive engineering for those looking for more practical skills. These training centers provide an alternative route for those not wishing to pursue further academic studies after secondary school. The literacy rate in Singapore is very high with an estimated 95% of adults being able to read and write according to the latest available data from 2019. This can be attributed to the government’s commitment towards education as well as investment in infrastructure for schools across all levels over recent decades. As a result, children now benefit from access to quality education with up-to-date resources and facilities which were not available just a few generations ago.
