Winterville Mounds – Burial Ground
The Natie Americans’ place of worship called Winterville Mounds, near the town of Winterville, is one of Mississippi’s historic sites. About 600 years ago, Winterville Mounds was a thriving Native American cultural site. Today only burial mounds remain. It is believed that Winterville Mounds served as a religious place of worship. Another burial ground called Emerald Mounds is north of the town of Natchez.
